 To preserve the rich culture and tradition of the Hmong people, annual Hmong New Year celebrations are held throughout the states. Since 2005, the Sacramento Hmong New Year, Inc. has held a Hmong New Year celebration, one of the largest Hmong New Year celebration in the states, at Cal Expo for the Hmong community.

​Sacramento Hmong New Year, Inc. is a non-profit organization serving the Hmong Community in the Sacramento Metropolitan Area. Our mission is to preserve the richness of Hmong culture and tradition, provide opportunities for the youth with scholarships for higher education, cultural awareness, and promote the general welfare of the Hmong community in the Sacramento Metro. 

Quality Security is proud to be providing security to ensure a safe environment for those attending the 2023 Hmong Festival at Cal Expo. We are thrilled to be apart of the team behind these annual New Year festivities. With the fun activities, good food, great music, Quality Security is happy to play their part in the safety of everyone vendors and guests alike.

As of January 12, 2023 California has a death toll of 19 and counting as the storm continues to pass through. Major flooding occurred in the Central Valley, the Bay Area, and a few counties in Southern California. The wind speeds are picking up going to 40-50mph.  As advised by national emergency responders Californians are told to stay home during extreme weather conditions to avoid getting stuck in the rain. In addition to the extreme weather neighborhoods have experienced periodic power outages due to the wind knocking down power lines. A selected few school districts have decided to cancel classes due to the storm to keep children safe. As school opens back up bus drivers work with School board members to map out safe travel routes to get students to and from school safely. This "bomb cyclone" as people are calling it on social media is making its final rounds through California in these next few weeks. Stay indoors if you do not need to go out and prepare you and your family for potential power outages.

This week California is experiencing another winter storm. This has resulted in about an inch of rainfall in the Central Valley. California is witnessing snow up in Redding and other areas towards Oregon and some parts in SoCal. California has declared a federal emergency due to the harsh weather. Evacuation orders have been issued in SoCal and Californians are encouraged to be on the lookout for flooding. Be safe out there and stay warm.

In an active shooter situation there are a few things you can do to keep yourself and others around you safe.

1. Run. During a shooting your chances of survival increase when you run away from the situation. Evaluate the situation before you make sudden movements DO NOT run in a straight path instead run in a zigzag pattern towards an emergency exit. If the nearest exit is too dangerous for you to get to run to a safe place you can hide.

2. Hide. Upon assessment of the situation, if you cannot get out hide. Out of sight out of mind applys to active shooter situations. If the shooter cannot see you then your chances of survival increase and your chances of getting shot decrease. When it is safe to get to an emergency exit quietly get out.

3. Fight. It is never a good idea to confront the shooter head on but when it comes down to it work with others around you to safely take down the perpetrator. In these situations it is best to grab control of the weapon to control the shooter.
